HAYES PRIMARY SCHOOL LEARNERS LEARN ABOUT SOLAR POWER

Fifty-four learners from Hayes Primary School, in the Hantam region, recently visited De Aar Solar Power, to experience first-hand how energy from the sun is harvested to produce electricity.

The entire school, which comprises Grade R to Grade 7, came to visit the solar plant and enthusiastically partook in a range of engaging activities designed to ensure that they fully benefited from this outing.

“We are so pleased to have welcomed these learners, especially as they warmly welcomed our team at their school earlier this year when we visited to hand over a range of school supplies and art equipment to inspire their creative thinking,” said Hlengiwe Radebe, Economic Development Director for De Aar Solar Power.

Hayes Primary School Principal, Yolande de Klerk: “De Aar Solar Power gave the learners of Hayes Primary School the power to learn more effectively through the wonderful gifts they received. You put the sunshine back in the learner’s lives with the best gifts ever. Thank you for the bright light that you were on Mandela’s Day 2017.”

De Aar Solar Power, which commenced operations during 2014, expects to launch a visitor’s centre next year. The centre will help the solar plant accommodate visitors more easily, thereby increasing its accessibility to the local community.
