De Aar Solar Power has funded 30 unqualified early childhood development practitioners with bursaries to finance their studies for a 3 year period commencing in 2014. The educators are currently employed by the Department of Education. The Bursaries cover tuition fees, meals and travel and the training provider is the North West University.
This is part of a programme initiated by the Department of Education, which is currently training 130 Grade R training practitioners of which 30 will be based in the De Aar, Hanover, Britstown, Phillips town and Petrusville areas. The participants who currently have Certificate qualifications will be provided with the opportunity to read for a National Diploma in Early Childhood Development which will enable the teachers to get a NQF level 6 qualifications. The practitioners will attend 10 days of study school per quarter and the remainder of the course will be done after hours and through distance learning methodologies.
